- 1 1⁄2 lbs stewing beef or 1 1/2 lbs sirloin
- 1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 chopped onion
- fresh jalapeno, seeded and chopped (heat varies by taste, I suggest starting with one each and add more as desired)

- chopped garlic
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 (15 ounce) can pinto beans
- 1 (15 ounce) can black beans
- monterey jack pepper cheese
directions
- On high heat sautee onions until just turning brown in a dutch oven or heavy pot.
- Add and brown the meat.
- Throw in the chilis and garlic and cook over medium heat for a few minutes.
- Add crushed tomatoes and all the spices bring to a simmer.
- Simmer for several hours, or until the beef begins to fall apart.
- 30 minutes before serving add beans.
- Sprinkle with cheese and serve with a warm flour tortilla or sprinkle with crushed corn chips.
- If your chili is too spicy add a dollop of sour cream.
