This recipe is from 'Madame Wong's Long-Life Chinese Cookbook', which I received free when given an electric West Bend wok as a wedding gift. I've been making broccoli this way for years. It's a quick, easy, healthy recipe.

This recipe is wonderful! A friend made it for dinner one night and rattled off the recipe, which I promptly forgot. I was so interested because she mentioned that she cooks a lot of vegies this way now. When I got home, I knew that somebody would have posted it, so I checked and it was here so I made the dish for dinner tonight. It was simple to make and really only took 6 minutes! The broccoli is cooked through but still a bit crunchy and the flavor is wonderful! Thanks so much for posting this!

Ingredients Nutrition


  1. Separate flowerets of broccoli into small pieces.
  2. Remove tough skin on stems.
  3. Cut stems diagonally into slices about 1 1/2 inches in length.
  4. Wash broccoli.
  5. Drain.
  6. Heat oil in a wok to 400°.
  7. When hot, put in broccoli and stir-fry 1 minute.
  8. Add salt, water, and sugar.
  9. Cover.
  10. Cook 3 minutes.
  11. Remove cover.
  12. stir fry for 2 more minutes.
  13. Sprinkle with optional sesame seeds.
