"This traditional german recipe came from my grandmother's recipe box."

• Yields: 2 9-inch cake layers sides and tops
• Serves: 1

ingredients

• 4 ounces dark chocolate
• 3 tablespoons butter (not margarine)
• 2 1⁄4 cups powdered sugar
• 1⁄2 cup half-and-half
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

directions

1. Melt chocolate and butter over low heat stirring constantly.
2. When melted, remove from heat and stir in remaining ingredients.
3. Beat with mixer until of spreading consistency.
