This recipe came from a book I'm reading by Jerry Baker. I haven't tried it yet but wanted to go ahead and post it before returning the book.
- Mix all of the ingredients together.
This does taste similar to the off brand catsups. After adding the brown sugar and vinegar, it still tastes like tomato sauce. It also turned out a little runny. (Crushed tomatoes instead of sauce might help to thicken it.) I would not count on this for a ketchup substitute. After tasting it, since I didn't like it, I thought I would simmer it to thicken and also added a dash of Lawry's season salt and onion powder which helped get rid of some of the tomato sauce taste. I will use it to make some homemade bbq sauce to keep it from being a total loss.
