I've given this a four star review, even though my own was a disaster. I can't get good pumpkin here so used butternut squash. I think it was too wet. Also, I didn't use enough oil and so they didn't cook through, although they were cooked on the outside. However, the taste was really good and deserves four stars. I'm going to make them again.
I think using canned pumpkin was not a good idea for this recipe... it ended up a little sour and more vegetable-tasting than dessert-like (I don't know how else to describe it). Next time I will definitely use a real pumpkin and take the time to make it from scratch.
The pumpkin drew a little too much water - so I needed to add an extra table spoon of flour. This was not because of an error in the recipe - but because of the pumpkin that was bought. Once the consistency was correct they turned out well and drew compliments galore!
