I think this is the ideal desert for a dinner party -- easy yet impressive! If you can't get Pinot Nero (also known as Pinot Noir), choose another red, young wine. It's also important to have ripe, firm peaches.
- Halve the peaches and remove the stones.
- Cut into thin slices.
- Put the peaches in a deep bowl, sprinkle with the sugar and zested lemon and add the wine.
- Cover with clingfilm and leave to marinate for an hour in a cool place.
- Serve in wine glasses.
