This is the famous cake that all the girls at the office want for their birthday! This recipe comes from Phyllis Bailey from New Jersey. ENJOY!

  1. Cream together sugar, butter and shortening (CRISCO) until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time.
  3. Add flour and salt mixture alternating with milk and vanilla.
  4. Bake in greased and floured tube pan for 1 1/2 hours at 325.
  5. DO NOT PREHEAT OVEN BEFORE PUTTING THE CAKE IN!
  6. ICING:.
  7. Cream the butter until fluffy.
  8. Add sugar alternating with the milk and vanilla until it is spreading consistency.

My mother's name is Phyllis, so I had to try this cake. It's a lovely dense pound cake with a really good flavor. I don't think it needs the icing at all. I made half of the icing recipe, and still had plenty to ice the cake. Thanks for posting it.
