Peppermint Bark

"These are a twist on the usual Chistmas bark made with candy canes. They are more like an after dinner mint, but none the less they are my son's favorite at Christmas time and make a great idea for gift giving."

  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 2 drops green food coloring

directions

  • Line cookie sheet with waxed paper.
  • Melt milk chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds at a time until melted. Be sure to stir every 30 seconds.
  • Once smooth, spread onto waxed paper evenly to 1/4 inch thick.
  • Melt white chocolate chips and oil in the same fashion stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
  • Add peppermint extract and food coloring and stir.
  • Pour over milk chocolate layer.
  • Use a toothpick to swirl the milk chocolate through top layer as desired.
  • Freeze for 30 minutes.
  • Remove from paper and bread apart.

  1. Very good and easy to make! I added a cup more of the white chips, and no food coloring! It takes wonderful!!! Next time I will mix some of the candy bits in with the chocolate chips after they are melted, becasuse a lot of it fell off. My husband and son think it is great!!!
