Orange Poppy Seed Bread

• Serves: 4-6

ingredients

• 295.73 ml water
• 9.85 ml grated orange rind
• 29.58 ml packed brown sugar
• 29.58 ml butter, cubed
• 4.92 ml salt
• 768.91 ml all-purpose flour
• 14.79 ml poppy seed
• 2.46 ml ground cardamom (optional) or 2.46 ml nutmeg (optional)
• 3.69 ml fast-rising active dry yeast (instant) or 3.69 ml bread machine yeast

directions

1. Remove baking pan from large (1-1/2- to 2-lb/750 g to I kg) bread machine.
2. Add to pan (in order) water, orange rind, sugar, butter, salt, flour, poppy seeds, and cardamom (if using).
3. Sprinkle yeast over top, making sure it does not touch liquid.
4. According to manufacturer's instructions, choose basic or regular/light setting.
5. When baked, immediately remove pan from machine; shake loaf from pan.
6. Let cool completely on rack.

Tasted great and rose beautifully. I did not have fast rising yeast, but instead used 1 packet yeast and it was perfect.
