Oatmeal Marble Bars

"A delicious bar cookie that can be made with chocolate or butterscotch chips. Very yummy!"

• Yields: 24 cookies
• Serves: 12

ingredients

• 1 1⁄2 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 cup butter, softened
• 3⁄4 cup sugar
• 3⁄4 cup brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1⁄2 teaspoon water
• 2 eggs
• 2 cups quick oatmeal
• 1⁄2 cup nuts (optional)
• 1 cup chocolate chips (or butterscotch chips)

directions

1. Preheat oven to 375 (F).
2. Cream sugars and butter.
3. Add vanilla and water. Mix well.
4. Add eggs. Mix well.
5. Add flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix well.
6. Stir in oats and nuts.
7. Spray 13 x 9 pan with baking spray (or coat with butter).
8. Spread batter in pan.
9. Sprinkle chocolate chips over teh dough.
10. Bake 4 minutes.
11. Run knife through the dough in s-shaped patterns to create marbled effect.
12. Return to oven and bake for 12 - 15 min longer (until golden brown. . . might take a few more minutes).

Very nice bar and very easy to do. Perhaps a tad dry but still very easy to eat. I will definitely do these again and you could even do more marbling and use white chocolate too.
