  1. After steaming the squash and chopped onion together, season with salt, pepper and part of the softened butter.
  2. Mix sugar, egg, some cheese, and mayonnaise together into the seasoned squash and put in greased casserole dish.
  3. Sprinkle crushed Ritz crackers on top, sprinkle with cheese and pour rest of butter over.
  4. Bake at 350 until brown and bubbly.
