Nama's Western Baked Beans

"Simple and oh so delicious! Not too sweet, with a little zip. It's our family and friends favorite side dish. I'm asked to bring this to all our picnics, BBQ's and get togethers. Originally given to me by a friend, we changed a few things, and made it not as sweet. These are great hot or cold. I know you'll really enjoy them. It also freezes well."

  • When green peppers are tender add garlic.
  • Break up ground beef into smaller pieces, drop into onion/green pepper/garlic mixture and brown down, stirring to keep meat from clumping. When cooked, drain off any grease.

  • I bake two casseroles and fill 2 of the ziplock 9x4 freezer dishes for later baking in the microwave. Simply thaw overnight in frig and then heat in microwave.

I was born and raised in Michigan. I am a new resident to Texas and I am just loving it! I am a mother of 7, 5 boys 2 girls ages range from 33 to 112. Grandma to 5, 4 girls and 1 boy. I love cooking for them and coming up with new ways to create a wonderful tasty meal. Our youngest son has Autism, CP and coad, he is such a blessing. I have learned so much from him and through him as well. I look for the humor in life and see the glass as half full. The Lord is very important in my life, He is my strength.
