This is a great partner for any pasta dish. It isn't much of a recipe, in fact it is rather lame, but we really like it for sopping up sauce. I came up with this when I did not have garlic to make garlic bread. Measurements are merely a guess as I just sprinkle on the spices and sort of eyeball it.
- 1 loaf Italian bread
- 1⁄4 cup butter
- 1⁄2 teaspoon celery salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1⁄4 cup parmesan cheese (optional)
- Cut bread into 1/2" thick slices, spread with butter.
- Place on baking sheet and sprinkle with spices (and Parmesan) and place under broiler until lightly toasted, about 2 minutes.
Excellent and so easy to make. I could have gone a little heavier on my sprinkling, but it was good anyway. Thanks for sharing. Made for PAC Spring 09
I do this as well, except for the spices I just use garlic powder. I will definitely try it this way as well. It goes fantastically with Italian dishes or soup. My daughter and son even make it was snacks using plain old sandwich bread. Awesome anyway you slice it!
So good - this is just how I do it and it's always better than "store bought" bread. :)
