Miranda's Milky Way Cake

• 6 (365.70-487.61 g) Milky Way bars
• 236.59 ml butter, divided
• 473.18 ml sugar
• 4 eggs
• 591.47 ml all-purpose flour
• 2.46 ml salt
• 295.73 ml buttermilk
• 4.92 ml baking soda
• 236.59 ml chopped pecans

• Milky Way Icing

• 591.47 ml sugar
• 236.59 ml evaporated milk
• 170.09 g semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 236.59 ml marshmallow creme
• 118.29 ml butter

directions

1. Melt candy bars with 1 stick butter in a saucepan; set aside.
2. Cream sugar and remaining stick of butter in large bowl of electric mixer; beat in eggs.
3. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt.
4. In a small bowl, combine buttermilk and baking soda.
5. Add flour to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk mixture.
6. Stir in melted candy mixture, then pecans.
7. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan and bake at 325°F for 1 hr and 10 minutes, or until tests done.
8. Remove cake from pan and place on a wire rack over a drip pan to cool-- Pour warm icing over warm cake.

10. Combine sugar and milk in a sauce pan over med.
11. heat.
12. Cook to the soft ball stage (234 to 238°F on a candy thermometer) Add chocolate chips, marshmallow creme and butter and stir until melted.
13. Pour over warm cake.

This was the first made from scratch cake I've ever made. Turned out great except I burned the icing-- good thing I had plenty of canned icing on hand.
