Try on grilled burgers or chicken, too! Makes about 1/4 cup. From the 1995 "Heart Healthy Cookbook" of delicious healthy recipes, Edina, MN. This is very similar to the topping I use on my own meatloaf I have posted (Easy (And Tasty) Meatloaf), except it uses ground nutmeg. I can't wait to give it a try.
- 1⁄4 cup low sodium ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 1⁄4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Combine ingredients in a small bowl.
- Spread sauce on meatloaf 10 minutes before baking is complete.
This is awesome! If you like a sweet topping for your meatloaf, you really should give this one a try. The mustard gives this topping a little tang and the nutmeg, well, no words can describe what it does! Thanks, Bec, for this fabulous keeper. Dar
Well, Bec, I just registered with food.com for the sole purpose of reviewing your post here.Your topping sauce is wonderful! It was close enough to my family recipe that I tried it, and am glad I did! (Oh, and folks, DO GO AHEAD AND USE THE NUTMEG, uh huh.)Thanks for sharing.......
