From one of Marge Clark's cookbooks, here is a quick, easy-to-make pizza sauce that tastes great! It doubles or triples easily.
- 425.24 g can tomato sauce
- 78.07-118.29 ml diced onion
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 29.58 ml fresh parsley or 4.92 ml dried parsley
- 3.69 ml dried oregano
- 3.69 ml dried basil
- 3 red pepper flakes
- Bring ingredients to a boil and simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes.
Very tasty and oh so easy. We used this as a dipping sauce for chicken tenders so we could concentrate on the flavor. As Mikekey said, the name is misleading, as there is no thyme listed in the ingredients. This made a lot of sauce, so we still have plenty left to top a pizza. Made for Best of 2012 tag game.
This will be my "go-to" sauce when I want a red sauce for pizza. Great flavor with the onion and garlic. Wasn't sure about the name, since there is no thyme in the ingredients, but it didn't need any, in my opinion!
