Ice Box Cookies

"Another Christmas favorite. Prep time does not include chilling."

• Yields: 3-4 dozen

ingredients

• 2 cups flour
• 1⁄2 cup powdered sugar
• 1 cup butter (chilled)
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• colored crystal sugar (red and green)

directions

1. Mix all ingredients (except colored sugar crystals) together. Form into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for one hour.
2. On wax paper, roll dough into two logs about 2 inches in width. Roll in red and green crystals and chill overnight (or a few hours) in wax paper.
3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
4. Slice into thin slices and bake for 10 to 12 minutes (do not brown).
