  • Mix together the Borax and Baking Soda. If desired, add white vinegar to the rinse aide compartment.

  1. This works great!!! Very economical & better for the environment! I would suggest that the vinegar is mandatory. As with any "green" dishwasher cleaner there will be a bit of film left (I have tried many and they all do this - imagine what chemical they add in the conventional ones that doesn't leave a film - yikes!!). All you do is add the vinegar to the rinse section and your good to go. Thank you so much for posting!!!
     
  2. I was a little scared to try this (as of yet unreviewed) recipe. In fact, I made certain to try it before I ran out of Cascade so I could clean my dishes again if it didn't work. Dishes came our clean. I guess instead of buying more Cascade I need to go get a Costco box of baking soda. Should save a lot of $$$ Edit: I guess this is the problem with premature posting. I rated this after checking out a few dishes and seeing that food was off them. Unfortunately, when I unloaded the dishwasher I noticed a funky film on many of the dishes that I just cant live with. I guess this will have to be an 'in a pinch' solution, not a regular thing. Sorry
