  • In saucepan combine sugar flour and salt, gradually stir in milk, ‘cook and stir over medium heat until it thickens . Cook 2 minutes longer.
  • Remove from heat add 1 cup of coconut. Put a 3 egg meringue with 1/3 coconut sprinkled on top.
  • Stir in small amounts hot mixture into yolks return to hot mix, cook 2 minutes stirring constantly add vanilla and butter .cool and pour into baked shell.
  • Beat egg whites until stiff, add sugar beat again, spoon onto pie. Bake at 400 until light brown.
