Grandpas Delicious Sugar Cookies

"My grandfather used to make these every Christmas. Simple, yet oh so good!"

 

• Ready In: 25mins
• Ingredients: 5
• Yields: 18 cookies

ingredients

• 1⁄2 cup butter (soft but not melted)
• 1⁄2 cup powdered sugar
• 1 cup sifted flour
• 1 teaspoon vanilla or 1 teaspoon artificial vanilla flavoring

• optional

• colored sugar sprinkle

directions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
2. Combine ingredients with pastry blender.
3. Shape into a ball with your hands.
4. Roll about 1/4 inch thick on floured canvas or cutting board.
5. Cut with 3 inch cookie cutter.
6. Repeat steps 3 - 5 with remaining dough.
7. Bake at 400F for about 10 minutes, depending on the size of cookies.
8. Note: cookies may be cut with fancy cookie cutters and decorated with colored sugars before baking.

I made these for my kids when we ran out of regular sugar. Tasted great!! At first it will seem as if there is not enough moisture for it all to mix. We didn't have a pastry mixer, so I mixed it all up with my hands (kind of like bread) till it was all mixed. Excellent! thanx for posting
