  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Peel apples and as you peel them, place them in a bowl with the wine and turn to coat the surface of each apple allowing them to soak in wine while completing remaining preparations.
  • Place spices and half the sugar into a buttered 9 x 9 x 1 3/4-inch baking dish. Pour wine from apples into dish.
  • Arrange apples in dish and sprinkle on remaining sugar.
  • Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until tender. Baste several time while cooking.
