Fake 1980's Taco Bell Bell Beefer Burger

"My neighbor was telling me how much he enjoyed this burger from Taco Bell in the eighties. I found this on grouprecipes.com. I plan to make this as a surprise for him on his birthday. I plan to serve these with french fries."

  1. I had these back in the 70's but not from Taco Bell. A local SoCal taco stand made these with red chile (enchilada) sauce smeared on top and bottom bun. Three slices of dill pickles were placed on the bottom bun. Add taco meat. Add shredded colby cheese on top of meat. Close bun and heat in microwave for 20 seconds. Enjoy !

  2. I loved these when I was a kid. The Taco Bell's where we bought them used red sauce on the top and bottom of the bun. When I make them at home I used canned red enchilada sauce and leave off the sour cream. They sog fast so plan on eating them soon after you make them.

  4. I guess it depends on where you lived on what these were called. Bell Burger here. My Mom loves when I make them for her. I don’t recall ours having tomato or sour cream.

  5. The basics of the recipe are correct except one. The Taco Bell, Bell Beefer bun was not toasted it was dipped in enchilada sauce, mild. You can still get a version of the Bell Beefer at Baker’s a fast foood chain in the San Bernardino County area. For some odd reason they add dill pickle on top. Not a good idea.
