  1. Awful, flavorless recipe!

  2. I wasn't overly crazy about this recipe, but my husband did like it. Maybe it's just a preference thing. I think I will look for a recipe with some actual fruit peices added and a "creamier" (if thats possible in baked oatmeal) texture.

  3. I made this today without realizing I only had 2 1/2 cups of oatmeal! So after mixing it and realizing my mistake I added 1/2 cup of flour. I mixed it in thoroughly before pouring it into the pan. I also cut back the brown sugar to 1 cup, it's still a little sweet for me, and threw in a generous handful of chopped walnuts, and increased the applesauce to 1 cup. Delicious, if I do say so myself. I know it's something the granddaughters will enjoy.

  4. I used quick oats and baked for 30 minutes and it was still a little soggy. Next time I will use rolled oats and bake it a little longer. I also added cinnamon to the mix and chopped walnuts across the top before baking.

  5. Oh, my goodness this is delicious. I also added a chopped apple and cinnamon. I served it with a splash of cream over the top. Yummm. My family loved it. Thanks, Rick for a great new weekend breakfast favorite!

I'm not much of a cook, but I have a long history of avidly adoring the end results of cooking. Before retirement I worked as a crime scene investigator (No, I don't know as much as the stars of CSI apparently do and Yes, I am just as good looking), which means liver is not at the top of my list for dinner. My favorite son, who is an excellent cook, alerted me to this site and I'm finding it fascinating. I enjoy languages. Can't figure out why everyone doesn't learn Esperanto. :) My greatest passion is my 17 year old wife. Well, she was 17 when I met her and 37 years later she still looks the same as far as I am concerned so she must be still 17, right? Next in order are our kids: Two biological, 1 adopted, 4 foster, and one exchange student who either belongs to us or to some people in Japan (personally I think she belongs to us!!) Next passion are the 15 (to date) grandkids. Peeves? Onions!! I loathe, hate, disdain, detest, abhor, and simply dislike 'em. A month off? Visit the kids!! After that? Maybe, just maybe, update my web page.
