- 3⁄4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1⁄4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1⁄3 cup shortening
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate bit
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1⁄2 cups of chopped walnuts
- 1⁄4 cup Bourbon

WHITE FROSTING
- 1⁄2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups of sifted powdered sugar

CHOCOLATE GLAZE
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate bit
- 1 tablespoon shortening
directions
- Combine the first 3 ingredients in medium bowl; set aside.
- Combine the sugar, shortening, and water in medium saucepan.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat stirring constantly.
- Once it boils, remove from heat, add the chocolate morsels and the vanilla, stirring until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, stirring after each addition.
- Stir in the flour mixture and walnuts; stir well.
- Spoon into 9-inch square pan. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle bourbon evenly over the warm brownies.
- Cool completely in pan.
- Spread the white frosting on the brownies and pour warm chocolate glaze over the icing. Let stand until set. Cut into squares.
- WHITE FROSTING: Combine the butter and vanilla in large mixing bowl. Beat at medium speed with mixer until creamy. Gradually add the sugar and beat until smooth.
- CHOCOLATE GLAZE: Combine the chocolate morsels and shortening in top of double broiler. Bring the water to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cook until chocolate morsels melt, stirring occasionally.
