My in-laws made this for a barbecue and my toddler gobbled them up and kept asking for more. I asked them to make it my son's birthday party, and I received a ton of requests for the recipe.
- Fry bacon and onion in a skillet until bacon is crisp.
- Drain the excess grease from the cooked bacon and onion.
- Put all ingredients in a crock pot.
- Cook on high for 2 hours or low for 6 hours.
Everyone liked. Very easy to make. Cooked fresh beans about 4 hours on high.
These were very good. I used some frozen green beans from my garden. I followed the recipe and was a bit concerned because it smelled so sweet. I shouldn't have doubted after 4 hours in the crockpot the beans came out delicious. Everyone was pleasantly suprised. Thanks for an interesting and tasty dish.
This is really yummy! I followed the recipe as directed except I used left over bacon from breakfast, so sauteed my onions in 1 tablespoon of butter. Just delicious! Thank you for posting! Made for It's Not Easy Being Green 2009.
