  • Mix the dry ingredients.
  • Barely melt the lard.
  • Add the hot water to lard and then pour it into bowl with the dry ingredients.
  • Mix with a spoon until all the flour is saturated, then when cool enough, work it by hand until thoroughly mixed, working in additional flour as needed.
  • Roll dough on floured surface until 1/8-1/4 inch thick.
  • Place into tin pie plate.
  • Trim dough around edges.
  • Flute edges.
  • Pie shells may be frozen, sealed in a plastic bag until ready to use.
  • Follow baking directions for your favorite pie recipes.
