These were delicious! Both my kids loved them. I subbed 3/4 cup whole wheat flour and 1/4 cup quick oats for the all-purpose flour since I was out of all-purpose. I added some sweetened cocoa to the cinnamon mixture. I made mini muffins and got 18. I had a lot of the cinnamon mixture left over. Guess I'll have to make more! ;-)

I changed a few things: -added the chocolate chips (my interpretation of "chocolate pieces") directly to the batter... probably used about a cup -added a little vanilla to the batter, about 2 teaspoons -used low-fat butter spread instead of butter because I'm out of butter at the moment The muffins turned out great, even without the butter! Everyone in my house liked them, and I'll definitely be making them again.
