FABULOUS! Chewy and Good! This is a very popular bar which does not last but one day in my home! Great for a snack. The peanut butter flavor comes through well and you have the choice to put in raisins or chocolate chips!
- 1⁄2 cup butter, softened
- 1⁄2 cup white sugar
- 1⁄4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1⁄3 cup peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1 cup quick-cooking oats
- 3⁄4 cup raisins (or chocolate chips)
- Cream butter and sugars well. Blend in beaten egg, peanut butter and vanilla.
- Add baking soda, salt and flour. Mix in quick cooking oats. Fold in choice of raisins or chocolate chips.
- Spread in a greased 9 x 9 inch pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
This was ok.It needs to have more peanut butter added to give it more flavour.I could hardly even tell it was a peanut butter bar.Next time I would bake it for 20-25 minutes as I found it gets dry pretty fast.
I made this recipe on 9/26/08 after seeing your wonderful photos in the "Cooking Photo Forum".Instead of using raisins ( which I can't stand ), a milk chocolate/peanut butter blend chip was used. This recipe was so easy to make, even a beginner baker could do this with no trouble at all.The smell of this recipe as it was baking was so wonderful I couldn't wait to taste it. And after tasting, I wasn't disappointed at all. But I can't make these again,(Yeah, Right) the reason is I'll end up eating the whole batch.Thank you so much for posting and, "Keep Smiling :)"
