    This cookie is a must during the Holidays. Simple to make. You can vary the recipe by replacing walnuts with cashews, pecan or some time I mix in chocolate chip or butterscotch chips.

      Cream butter,sugar, salt and vanilla.

      Blend in flour and nuts.

      Scoop and roll into balls.

      Bake 325 for 22 to 25 minutes.

      Remove from oven roll into powdered sugar.

      bleh. These were so disappointing. Bland. Dry. Crumbly. Like eating packing peanuts. Couldn't even bring myself to give them away.

      I too have been making these forever! just a tip on the butter use 1/2 cup salted and 1/2 unsalted and that will help with the taste and crumbling. ;)

      I've been making these cookies since I was 13...I'm now 43 and love them just the same....I used to have the recipe commited to memory but 5 kids later I need to refer to the recipe :) Such a basic recipe , but ohhhh so good! Try 'em!
