This is a nice flavorful spread for italian bread. Even people that don't ordinarily like bleu cheese will like these, since the cheese takes on a different kind of flavor once broiled.
- Blend margarine, bleu cheese and mayonnaise in a mixer or by hand until creamy and thoroughly incorporated.
- Heat oven to 450 degrees.
- Slice bread into 3/4" slices and spread each slice with cheese mixture.
- Place on greased baking sheet and bake about 5-10 minutes or until top is bubbly and lightly browned.
This is sooooo good! A little too much margarine for my taste. I didn't have a full loaf & I spread on the mixture very thick so I didn't throw any out. So that may be why I thought it has too much marg.
I was just looking up recipes for blue cheese since I had a whole tub of the stuff and NOTHING to do with it. I gave this one a try (who doesn't have mayo and margarine in their fridge?) And, my goodness...it's SO YUMMY! Buttery, creamy, cheesy, salty, warm...everything it should be. This is a definite favorite.
This is FANTASTIC! I had a loaf of Fleischmann's Italian Bread in the freezer that I wanted to 'dress-up' a bit. This was super easy to put together and the taste was perfect.
