This is an old family favorite that we considered a Christmas cookie but my kids have a blast making the thumbprints so we make them all year round.

Ingredients Nutrition


  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl until fluffy.
  3. Blend in egg and vanilla.
  4. Add oats and flour; mix well.
  5. Shape into 1 inch balls, roll in chopped nuts.
  6. Place on cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
  7. Make indentation in center of each ball with your thumb.
  8. Fill each thumbprint with 1/4 tsp preserves.
  9. Bake 12-15 minutes or until light golden brown.
  10. Cool on wire rack.
  11. Store loosely covered.
