Aunt Pauline's Fruit Salad

"I guess this is an ambrosia salad, we just always called it fruit salad. One of our family favorites. You can also add coconut (1/4 cup) if you like. If you have time, prepare this the day before and refrigerate. About 1 hour before serving, remove from refrigerator and let sit to come to room temperature. Stir to remix and serve. Prep time is cooking time."

directions

  • Drain the juice from all the fruits; discard, or use for something else.
  • Put sour cream in bowl.
  • Add remaining ingredients in the following order, stirring to blend after each ingredient is added - pineapple, marshmallows, nuts, mandarin oranges, cherries. Add coconut last.
  • NOTE: Stir the mandarin oranges and maraschino cherries carefully, as they have a tendency to tear apart if mixed too hard.

  1. CONGRATULATIONS on your week 12 Football pool win FN!! This was a wonderful recipe. Quick and easy and the flavors blended together really well. I didn't use coconut because I'm not a fan of it but really enjoyed the flavoring of the sour cream with the fruits.

  2. I have to make this salad for Christmas & Thanksgiving every year. I make one bowl with coconut and one bowl without. It's light and refreshing and kids love it as well as the adults.
