A very high-rising sweet bread, perfect for breakfast. This recipe is the 1 1/2 size which rises to the top of my 2 lb machine. Do a search here for apple butters or try the one I use #11492. I needed to add about 1/4 cup flour during the first kneading...the dough was sticky.
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1⁄2 cup apple butter
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 cups bread flour
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons yeast
- Add ingredients in order given to the bread pan.
- Set on Sweet cycle (or Basic), 2 lb size.
- Check during the first mixing if the dough is too wet and add some extra flour if necessary.
My husband and I loved this at breakfast, it makes a soft and fluffy loaf. My dough ball was sticky after the first kneading so I added one tablespoon of bread flour. I used Great Value brand apple butter.
Mine turned out ok. I used chunky apple butter. But we couldn't taste the apple flavor at all.
Loved the flavor of this bread, but you might have to make this twice in order to work out the kinks from the different apple butters. I ended up using the following: 3/4 cup water, 2 TBS. oil, 3/4 cup apple butter, 1 TBS. sugar, 1 tsp. salt, 2 cups wheat flour, 2 cups bread flour, and 1 1/2 tsp. yeast. I also baked an extra 15 min. longer than my basic cycle called for. Thanks for sharing!
