  • Stir yeast into water.
  • Scald milk; cool to lukewarm. Add 1 cup of flour; mix well.
  • To the milk and flour mixture stir in yeast and beaten egg.
  • Add vanilla, cinnamon, salt and shortening; mix well.
  • Add rest of flour.
  • Cover and let rise until doubled in size.
  • Punch down; knead well.
  • Roll into oblong.
  • Spread with Solo filling that has been sweetened to taste.
  • Roll up.
  • Bake at 375 degrees F. for 30 minutes.

I love collecting recipes and cookbooks, which is funny because I don't do any of the actual cooking in my house, at least not at present. I do come up with ideas for tweaking recipes though and I do occasionally bake. I love anything to do with arts and crafting. I crochet, knit, draw, paint ceramics, etc. My idea of heaven would be to have my own studio to explore as many mediums and techniques that catch my interest.
