American Chop Suey

"This is my mother's recipe. I grew up eating this. It is a cheap meal that doesn't take very much time to make and every one that tries it always loves it. I have used boco burger in place of the ground hamburger and it still tastes really good but you might need to add a little non-stick cooking spray and water because it taste better with the oil you would get from the hamburger."

RECIPE SUBMITTED BY

I am Hungarian, my husband is from Germany. I love to cook and I am always looking for new ideas. My favorite reciepes are the ones that save me money, time, and my family loves eating. I love experimenting with German/Hungarian recipes, but admit that I do suplement ingredients for healthier ones, such as:fat free sour cream, low/no sugar or use Splenda, Low sodium, etc. So if any one is using my reciepes, I have used them in the healthiest way and they do taste good, you can always use the real stuff if you want. I think that we are used to using the fat free versions of most things so we don't even notice any more. Some people swear that they can't eat fat free sour cream, but I think it is worth trying if you really want to eat some of the foods but can't have all the extra calories/fat.
