  1. Heat oven to 350.
  2. Grease jelly roll pan.
  3. Mix brown sugar, margarine, syrup, egg and vanilla.
  4. Stir in flour and salt.
  5. Spread dough in pan.
  6. Bake until light golden brown- 18-20 minutes.
  7. PREPARE TOPPING BY: Cook and stir brown sugar and syrup over low heat until sugar is dissolved.
  8. Stir in margarine and cream.
  9. Heat to boiling, then remove from heat.
  10. Stir in vanilla and almonds.
  11. Pour over baked layer, spread evenly.
  12. Bake until light brown and set- about 15-20 minutes.
  13. Cool, then cut squares, then cut squares diagonally.

Steph these are great, crust is just right, topping is carmelly and gooey, just a word to the wise don't cook it too long as it gets hard. Ty for a great recipe, next time I will try with pecans.
