I cut the recipe in half, and used Granny Smith apples. They are very tart, so I increased the sugar a bit....it was still quite tart, so if you use a tart apple, make sure you make adjustments! I served mine with grilled pork chops and sweet potatoes. Thanks for sharing!

  1. In a large saucepan, cook apples with water for about 15 minutes or until just tender, stirring occasionally, then stir in the wine.
  2. Remove from heat & mash until lumpy but not yet smooth.
  3. Add sugar, to taste, then chill before serving.
