A&W Root Beer Copycat

"A quick copycat recipe that doesn't use dry ice. This does not store well so only make up what you want to use. Root beer concentrate can be found at your grocery store next to the extracts and flavorings."

  1. Made recipe as written, and doubled the root beer concentrate, and did turn these into rootbeer floats. Have to be honest, here in town we have a 24 hour drive-in that makes their own root beer, and these had a better flavor. Do have the leftover ingredients, plan on making the root beer too. Made for I Recommend.

  2. This is very good! I followed 2Bleu's suggestion and double the root beer concentrate, but left everything else the same. The seltzer water seemed to loose its carbonation once I added the sugar/water mixture, maybe I should have let it cool some first...This would be good root beer for floats; since there is not a lot if carbonation it won't be so foamy. Made for PRMR.

  3. Great stuff! Root beer is so good but it seems often overlooked around the Coke and Pepsi. I love that you can control the amount of sugar. I made 2 servings and doubled the amount of root beer concentrate. Next time I will reduce the sugar just a tad. Root beer float next on the menu! Thanks for sharing a great homemade, old time favorite.

Married mother of twins. I very seldom ever use recipes as they are written, always modifying and adjusting them. Many times I will take three or four different recipes and come up with a new recipe based on those. <img src="http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e347/Saturn6666/KiwiDutch/3chefstag1.jpg">
