This rub was developed the DAY BEFORE the American Royal BBQ Competition in KC MO. We call it 22% because our chicken place in the top 22%! The following year we placed 11th, the next year was not our best, but we were still in the top 50%. Hopefully, this year will be the winner!!!

Delicious. I didn't have cayenne, celery seeds or the dry mustard on hand, so just combined all the other ingredients and rubbed on chicken breasts for the grill. It kept the chicken moist, and the sweetness of the brown sugar was nicely complemented by the chili powder and garlic flavors. Here's hoping you win the competition next year.
