Stella's White Bread Apple Pie

"I just had to share this recipe...I was invited to dinner this evening and was served Apple Pie made with sliced white bread for dessert. It was really good, I would never have believed it was bread as the crust!! It is something I would make for a family dessert in a pinch!! Try it, it's really different but good! I looked on 'Zaar but didn't see anything like it."

  • Bake at 350* for 40-45 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crust is browned.

  1. This is our go to dessert recipe. I was trying to find something like this a couple of months ago because both of my grandmothers made what they both called a “loaf bread pie.” It took some digging before I found it, but I’m glad I did. One of my grandmothers would take a tiny stick of ginger and put it in each corner to give it more flavor. I’m not exactly sure if this is the exact recipe that either of them used, but it is pretty close. We love it!

  2. OMG My mother use to make this recipe this is one of just 4 of her dishes I have been searching for on here and no one has ever heard of using WHITE BREAD. I have not tried this yet but will on the weekend of September 29th. The only thing I can see that may be different is taking the crust off the bread. It all blends in and softens. Thank you so much can't wait until my younger brother comes and I serve this to him it will bring back memories for sure.
