ingredients
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1⁄2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup flour
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
directions
- Melt chocolate and butter together in 3-qt saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally, until smooth (about 4-7 minutes). (If you're short on time, you can also do this in a large microwave safe bowl in the microwave; be careful not to burn the chocolate, though!).
- Remove from heat; stir in sugar and vanilla.
- Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in dry ingredients until well mixed.
- Spread into a lightly greased 8x8 pan.
- Bake at 350* for 33-38 minutes -- until brownies just begin to pull away from sides of pan.
- **Brownie Tips: Begin checking for doneness 5 minutes before minimum baking time. Mine are usually done by the 30 minute mark, but every oven is different.

These are wonderful, chocolatey brownies! I doubled the recipe, used semi-sweet chocolate chips, unsweetened applesauce for 1/2 of the butter, a flax substitute for 1/2 of the eggs and whole wheat flour for 1/2 of the all-purpose. They came out great (otherwise, with all my substitutions, I wouldn't have posted a review)! Thanks for posting! :)

I met my handsome airman at Misawa Air Base (in Japan) and we've been married over 4 years. We are now back Stateside, have one handsome little boy (he takes after his daddy), and are expecting another addition to the family next spring. :o)
I dislike being called a "stay-at-home mom" because I feel that title is somewhat limiting. I love being a mother, but I do so much more than "just" take care of our son. Rather, I am a full-time homemaker. I strive to make our house a home for our family, and I love doing it!
We believe faithful involvement in a local church is an important part of our Christian faith, and are members of a wonderful IFB church nearby. We are good baptists and love to fellowship, as well! :P
As much as I enjoy finding new recipes, I am often intimidated by the "classics." Thankfully, I'm learning to get over that fear and just try things! My family is enjoying their lot as "resident guinea pigs," and is glad for the delicious things I've found through this website.
