directions

  • Preheat oven to 325.
  • Place cake mix in a medium bowl, cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender. The mixture will remain crumbly.
  • Press mixture into an ungreased 10 X 15 pan.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, nuts, and coconut over the base.
  • Drizzle sweetened condensed milk over the whole pan.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  • Cool completely and cut into bars. (I like to cut them into large triangles).
  • Note: I have used other cake mix flavors for the base, such as yellow and butter, and they turned out well.

  1. Great! Used a white cake mix. 10 year old grand daughter made them and had a wonderful time. I'm not in a baking mood this year and this certainly fit the bill. Thanks for sharing a very good recipe. I like the cake mix for the crust much better than just flour recipe version. Gives it a little more cookie so you can actually pick up the cookie to eat it. Thanks a lot for posting.

  2. This recipe couldn't be any easier. I melted the butter, which made it easier for the kids to spread into the pan. the first time we made it, we used leftover Christmas baking staples. It was so rich and delicious, I decided to use the basic recipe for a cookie exchange party. I will vamp it up with cranberries, pistachio, and white and dark chocolate instead of the milk chocolate and the butterscotch chips. ooh, or maybe dried apricot and walnut. yum.

  3. 5 stars! It's easy. It has very few ingredients, and it is delicious. Perfect for a Girls' Night get together or holiday party.

  4. Excellent and easy. Only thing I added were some additional chocolate chips sprinkled on top right after it came out of the oven. This was for presentation purposes only. (The top is the same color as a bowl of oatmeal, ...so the chips added some color and a hint of what was inside) I passed the recipe along to 3 people who attended the party! A Keeper!

  5. AWESOME recipe!! Easy to make, have given it away several times and each recipient LOVES these cookies...

I recently moved to Alaska from Arizona for my husbands job. Right now I am staying home with our 2-year-old daughter. We are all still trying to discover Anchorage and all that Alaska has to offer. I love everything about food. Shopping for food, cooking food, and eating food. My mother is an amazing baker, and I am fortunate that she passed that on to me. My husband is from Zambia, in southern Africa, so we cook a lot of traditional Zambian dishes. I love to cook but rarely do I measure and track cooking times. I am the kind of cook that just throws things together until I get what I am looking for. <a href="http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/dd235/MidwestMaven/?action=view&current=cookieswapparticip.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd235/MidwestMaven/cookieswapparticip.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w115/bugh8er/food%20and%20swaps/59115c92.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> <img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/permanent%20collection/adoptedspring08.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"> <img src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y164/lauralie41/swapbanner.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"> <img src="http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e347/Saturn6666/Other/tagforpage1.jpg">
