  • Rinse hens.
  • Pat dry.
  • In small bowl, combine garlic, honey, turmeric, onion, allspice, salt and cayenne.
  • Brush this mixture on hens.
  • Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours.
  • Place in cooker with juice from marinade.
  • Sprinkle tomatoes over top.
  • Cook on low 5 and 1/2 to 6 hours.
  • Arrange on serving platter over hot, cooked rice.
  • Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds if desired.

  1. Essentially good, very tender and moist recipe. Could be a bit spicier and browning the hens in a pan would improve them a lot IMO.
     
  2. Nice recipe for the slow cooker. I browned my hens first and then let them cook all day. I agree the recipe could be spicier. However, they did look lovely! I cut each hen in half after they cooked and they looked very nice on the plate :-)
