ingredients

directions

  • In a small bowl, combine milk, egg and butter; whisk until blended.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda and salt; mix well.
  • Add milk mixture; whisk just until dry ingredients are moistened.
  • (Batter will be slightly lumpy.) Heat griddle over medium heat until hot.
  • (Drops of water will sizzle, then evaporate.) For each pancake, pour scant 1/4 cup batter into griddle.
  • Cook 1-2 minutes or until batter is set around edges.
  • Carefully turn over pancake; cook 1-2 minutes or until pancakes are cooked through.
  • Repeat with remaining batter.
  • Sprinkle pancakes with powdered sugar; serve warm with desired toppings.
  • (I use a star shaped mold, placed on grill. You must spray mold with vegetable oil) Try using metal star shaped cookie cutters!

My boys love pancakes, but regular pancakes get boring quick. We tried these and they were AMAZING. I added a 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips. Big hit. Thanks gor a great recipe!

been making these pancakes with my sons for years... actually now they make them on their own, they grew up on these pancakes :) we LOVE it ... its like having chocolate cake for breakfast!!.... and we do them gluten free... they are light and simply decadent.. a real saturday morning family treat we use 1/4 cup cocoa powder, 2 T sugar, replace the flour with any combination of gluten free flours, (banana flour is especially good), grapeseed oil instead of butter (just to avoid melting butter :)) and serve with honey and sometimes a little butter.... mmmmmmm

Came out fine, but they're too much like cake, not pancake like at all, they're too heavy and thick.
