- 2 eggs, whites and yolks separated
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups sour cream
- 2 cups sugar
- 1⁄2 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 5 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for flouring work surface
directions
- 1. Preheat oven to 375. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
- 2. In small bowl, beat egg whites; set aside.
- 3. In small bowl, mis baking soda and sour cream; set aside.
- 4. In large bowl, cream sugar and butter. Mix in egg yolks, sour cream mixture, salt, egg whites, and vanilla. Sift baking powder and 2 cups flour, and mix.
- 5. Continue mixing, adding small amounts of sifted flour at a time (You may not need all 5 cups. Final mixture should be too stiff for mixer so it will have to be mixed by hand.).
- 6. Roll out dough on floured surface, cut out circles and place on baking sheets. Bake 12-15 minutes.
- 7. Serve, storing leftovers in an airtight container.
