Smoked Sausage and Apples

ingredients
- 1 (16 ounce) package smoked sausage (I use turkey sausage)
- 3 -4 cups granny smith apples (sliced)
- 1 cup onion (roughly chopped)
- 1⁄4 cup brown sugar
- 1⁄4 cup water
directions
- Slice smoked sausage into 1 inch coins, and place in a microwavable bowl with a lid.
- Add apples and onions.
- Sprinkle brown sugar over all. Add water. Cover.
- Microwave on high for about 5 mins or till apples are tender. (I use my fresh vegetable button for hard veggies).
- May season with salt and pepper if care to. We normally don't.
- Note: If you do not have a bowl with lid that will go into microwave, you may use plastic wrap, just be sure to vent it, by folding in one corner of wrap to make a little hole.

What a delightful blend of flavors - the apples were like velvet. I don't microwave so I put everything (following te recipe) in a fry pan that has a tight lid- heated it through for on medium heat for 10 minutes, removed the lid and gave it a few stirs cooked for anothe 7 minutes until everything was golden and the sausages heated through. I used a Portugues Linguisse sausage very spicy- great with the apples and onions Thanks MsSally for a real winner 11 July 09 Made again this time I left out the onions because I was serving it with Chili. Once again I made it in a wok Wonderful

Great quick meal. Gail and Mama were right on with skillet idea. I'm not a microwave fan either. I used my "bacon only" iron skillet which added a nice flavor. At serving, I added a sprinkling of chopped walnuts. Thanks to all the people on food.com, I was a hero once again.<br/>Easy enough for bachelors and Parents in a hurry.

<p>First, I'd like thank everyone who reviews my recipes. I can't thank each of you personally although I try. <br /><br />I Live in central Virginia, 5 miles from where I grew up, w/ my Husband of 17 years and my beautiful daughter. She is 10 and is the joy of my life. We waited for a long time to be blessed with a child and it is the best thing I've ever done. Be a mother. <br /><br />I love to cook. We eat very healthy, after a life altering experience at 31 I've been on a journey to be healthy and lose weight. I've lost 50 lbs and have kept most all of it off for the last 9 years. There are always fluxs, durring stressful times, but I've mananged to keep most of the weight off. My best advice to anyone trying to lose weight is to remember that it didn't get there overnight and it won't come off overnight. I've never said I was on a diet. It is a lifestyle.</p>
<p>When Zaar first changed to Food I took a short hiatus. I was going thru a very hard time in life and was completely unmotivated to do anything and thus gave up my hosting duties on Holiday Tag. But now with a new perspective I'm hoping to get back to cooking and tagging.</p>
