Sinful Apple Pie

"A nice HOUSE WARMING GIFT! Serve with vanilla ice cream. My choice of apples are granny smiths but use what you like. You can also add 1/4 cup rum soaked raisins to the filling."

  1. This was my first apple pie ever and what a success! I used Granny Smith apples, it took approximately 8 to make 6 cups worth. I followed the recipe with exception to the sugar. I really wanted to offer someone diabetic a piece so I used Splenda instead. I used Tenderflake deep dish pie crusts which can be found in the frozen section. One day I hope to make my own pie crusts but Tenderflake's were fine. The pie itself smelled heavenly while baking and even more so after cutting myself a slice. There's something about the smell of tenderized apples and cinnamon that is inviting. When served with vanilla ice cream, it makes the perfect end to a fine meal. The apples were tender and not too tart and not too sweet. Thank you for sharing this recipe. I will most definitely make it again.

  2. YUM-O! Terrific recipe! I used Granny Smith apples and they blended perfectly with the cinnamon, sugar, etc. Thanks for posting!!

  3. Scrumptious! I didn't have any cardamom so I used ginger instead. Also, I have deep dish pie pans and next time would use 7-8 cups of apples instead of 6. I will definitely be making this again, DH love, love, loved it!
