This was my first apple pie ever and what a success! I used Granny Smith apples, it took approximately 8 to make 6 cups worth. I followed the recipe with exception to the sugar. I really wanted to offer someone diabetic a piece so I used Splenda instead. I used Tenderflake deep dish pie crusts which can be found in the frozen section. One day I hope to make my own pie crusts but Tenderflake's were fine. The pie itself smelled heavenly while baking and even more so after cutting myself a slice. There's something about the smell of tenderized apples and cinnamon that is inviting. When served with vanilla ice cream, it makes the perfect end to a fine meal. The apples were tender and not too tart and not too sweet. Thank you for sharing this recipe. I will most definitely make it again.
