I had a ball making the chicken with apples! It's a unique accompaniment but did the trick to satisfy hunger pangs. Paired with straw basket Chianti a fine meal was had. My 5 lb bird was ready in about 1 hr 45 minutes.

This chicken turned out very moist. Unfortunately, I didn't think it had much flavor other than chicken. Not bad, but not excellent either. Also, the skin didn't really crisp up at all.

Awesome recipe Bunsbby. Love the flavor of this chicken. This is the way my dad use to make roasted chicken when we were kids. It's lovely, great flavour, crispy skin, moist and tender, juicy chicken meat. Perfect, simply perfect. Thanks for sharing.

I am a married mother of two. Both children are pretty picky, as well as my husband, so I have a hard time finding recipes everyone will enjoy. Also, I have food allergies to the legume family (peanuts and soy being the worst), so I find I have to change recipes sometimes. I have just recently discovered that I really enjoy cooking and am very happy to try most recipes.
