- 1⁄2 cup Crisco
- 2 eggs
- 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
- 3 tablespoons instant powdered chocolate milk mix
- 3 tablespoons red food coloring
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 1⁄4 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda

ICING
- 1⁄2 cup butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 6 tablespoons Crisco
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 2⁄3 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
directions
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cream Crisco and sugar together.
- Add eggs, chocolate milk mix and food coloring and mix well.
- Add buttermilk, flour, salt and vanilla; mix well.
- To a small bowl add vinegar and baking soda.
- FOLD this into the cake mixture.
- Pour into a greased and flour pan.
- Depending on the size of your pan bake for about 30 minutes or until done.
- To prepare icing: Cream butter, sugar and Crisco.
- Add one at a time flour, milk and vanilla.
- Beat for 12 minutes or until fluffy.
