Pork & Apple Schnitzel

"This is a great simple recipe. The applesauce and sage combine to add a subtle tasty coating for the pork. I have used dried sage with this also without a problem."

  1. This really didn't work for us. I have made numerous schnitzel in my time and never had any of them come out...DH called it mushy. The flavor was good but the technique was lacking. Thanks for letting me try your recipe. :)

  2. Loved the flavors and what the applesauce did to it. Very moist and the breading stayed on the pork (I did refrigerate it for the 30 minutes). Will make this again. DS came up and ate the last three pieces of pork and said "Tastey, I like it" - high praise from him. Made for Aus/NZ Swap 37

  3. Made for Holiday Tag. I had some trouble with the breading burning a bit...maybe because my applesauce was sweetened .Loved the sage/apple flavour alot! Of course we had applesauce on the side!

  4. Oh, this was a huge hit with me and with the hubby. Loved the sage flavor with the pork as well as the touch of sweet from the applesauce. Easy to make also! We served ours with a little extra apple sauce. So good!

  5. The taste was very good but I must really have problems deep frying as the pork didnt crisp up. Mine stayed soggy. Maybe I will bake them the next time.

Melbourne I live on a 5 acre property in the Dandenong Ranges Victoria, Australia, having moved from the burbs when I became pregnant with my now 15 year old daughter Alyssa. Once my daughter was born I became a stay at home mum as I couldn't bear the thought of putting her in daycare. She is the light of my life, I never imagined myself as a mum when younger but now wouldn't have it any other way. Alyssa was made a big sister on the 19th April 2010 when our cheeky little boy Blake was born. I love cooking and experimenting with new recipes so quickly become addicted to Zaar as it was previously known & still use it regularly. In addition to being my kids taxi  I also spend my time, reading, gardening and of course shopping. I'm lucky enough that we have the space & so love growing our own fruits, vegies & herbs, this also means we have plenty of room for animals & at the moment have 2 dogs, Max, a Jackshund who's 6, Fletcher, a Kelpie who's 4, 6 cats Snowpea, Fergus, Ginger, Tango, Annie & Cookie, 4 chooks & 2 Ducks. As well as our pets, we also have a lot of native animals around our area, we have kangaroos, wombats, echidna's, possums as well as rosella's, galah's & Cockatoo's hence the name of where I live..
